Recycled Venues

Adventures in exploring the potential of reclaimed and discarded materials…

In 2008, with friends from the Centre for Alternative Technology where I was working at the time, I brought together a collective of people interested in building with waste materials.

We discovered many things through these years of explorations.

Tetra paks are good at keeping rain off, nitrous oxide canisters feel really nice to touch when made into a wall, CD’s make perfect fish scales… and building with waste is laborious, time consuming and might just make you go mad. Although it’s challenging, it certainly is rewarding too, and it’s nice to know that with a bit of ingenuity, and a lot of perseverance you can build beauty with rubbish, just be prepared to put the time in.
